Fantasy Football talk 365 days of the year!!
Rookie Report 2009

Matthew Stafford QB Detroit Lions
The first overall pick in 2009 doesn't seem to have much fantasy value this year because first off he is on the lions and doesn't have much help around him. The best thing for Stafford we feel is to have him sit and watch for part of the season and allow him to learn the offense and the NFL game. We do not expect him to be like Matt Ryan because Stafford does not have the help or defense that Matt Ryan has. Dont expect much out of Mr. Stafford this upcoming season fantasy wise, look for him down the road to develop into a sold NFL QB. Would be worth looking at in a keeper league and store him on the bench for the season.

Matt's 09 Fantasy Outlook
Don't expect much out of Matthew Stafford this year in fantasy football. He needs a year to grow and the Lions are not ready to complete yet.

Mark Sanchez  QB New York Jets
The only really rookie QB that has the chance to start would be  Mark Sanchez at this point we feel. Sanchez has the ablity to lead the playoff caliber Jets this year with his big arm and terrific accuracy. The Jets are the perfect situation for Mark Sanchez to shine becuase they have an established running game and solid wideouts and tightends. I can see Sanchez doing simliar to what Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan did for thier clubs last season as long as he beats out Kellen Clemens for the job.

Matt's 09 Fantasy Outlook
Sanchez seems to the only one of the QB's that has the chance to make a fantasy impact this year. I expect Sanchez to win the job in training camp and excel in his first season as the Jets QB because of his great supporting cast.

Josh Freeman QB Tampa Bay Bucs
Jsoh Freeman is a QB that need time to develop and do not expect to see him as the starter till at least mid way through the season. Josh Freeman does has great amount of talent that could turn him into a solid NFL however at times in college his accuracy came into question because he would miss wideopen players. Freeman should only be drafted in keeper leagues unless something happenes at camp and he becomes the start. Even then he would only be a below average starter and if you are starting him you might be in trouble.

Matt's 09 Fantasy Outlook
I can't invision Josh Freeman having any real fantasy impact this upcoming season.

Brandon Pettigrew TE Detroit Lions
Pettigrew was the only TE taken in round 1. Pettigrew is an outstanding pass catcher with even better skills as a blocker. Though he lacks the speed to stretch the middle of the field like some other TE do, he's a big-time weapon capable of serving as a solid complement to Calvin Johnson in the passing game and is able to step in day one to help the Lion out.

Matt's 09 Fantasy Outlook
Pettigrew will be mostly blocking in the early part of 2009 because he must first pick up the Lions offense, so dont expect alot out of him in his rookie season fantasy wise.

Knowshawn Moreno RB Denver Broncos
The first running back off the board was Knowshawn Moreno. Moreno has everything that a NFL team is looking for in a back, the ablity to run the ball, catch the ball and being able to block out of the back field. However Denver already has a ton of running back in the mix and at this point I'm not sure how everything is going to play out. Look for Moreno to turn into one of the great running back in the league in the next few years.
Matt's 09 Fantasy Outlook
Moreno should be able to step right in and be a very serviceable #2 back

Donald Brown RB Indianapolis Colts
The elusive runner from Connecticut has outstanding speed, quickness and vision. He excels at running between the tackles and is an ideal fit in the Colts' zone-based running game. With Joseph Addai suffering from durability issues, Brown could blossom as a rotational player and get a good amount of carries each game.

Chris Wells RB Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals get their power runner with Wells. The Buckeye excels at grinding between the tackles, and his physical running style gives Ken Whisenhunt the option of playing smash-mouth football.Chris Wells has been productive as a featured runner and he could put up big numbers in an offense that has normally moved the ball through the air.

Shonn Greene RB New York Jets
With Thomas Jones unhappy with his contract situation, the Jets add a potential replacement with the selection of Shonn Greene. Shonn is a downhill power runner with exceptional vision, Greene will serve as a banger between the tackles in the Jets' power-running offense and if Jones holds out at all don't think the Jets will not turn to Greene and Washington.

LeSean McCoy RB Philadelphia Eagles
McCoy is an excellent well rounded running back that has the ablity to run the ball between the tackles and be able to catch the best with the best of them. The former Panther has an exceptional combination of quickness, vision and elusiveness.  McCoy will serve as the Eagles back up running back behind Westbrook unless Westbrook is unable to make it back before the season starts.

Darrius Heyward-Bey WR Oakland Raiders
Hayward-Bey was the first WR taken in the 2009 NFL draft which was a shock to many however no one denies Darrius's upside and when it comes to measurables he has everything that for look for in a NFL wideout. However Heyward-Bey is very raw and only averaged 55 yards per game and less than 700 yard per season in college which shows that he need time to grow. In a few year this guy could be a stud but also seem alot like Troy Williamson potential.

Michael Crabtree WR San Fran 49ers
Cradtree is the most NFL ready wideout out there this year. Expect him to step right into the 49ers offense and produce. The only thing that might hold him back at first is the QB because they are still searching for someone that they can turn the franchise over to. However expect Crabtree to have a good year fantasy wise this year and would be a great number 3 option in many leagues.

Jeremy Maclin WR Philadelphia Eagles
Maclin is another one of those wild card for this upcoming fantasy season. Jeremy Maclin went to the Philadelphia Eagles which is a great fit for him in the west coast offense and has a great QB in McNabb to throw him the ball. I dont expect Maclin to demand the ball that much in his first season but has such a great ablity to break short passes into monster plays. We feel that he is going to right behind Crabtree and be the 2nd rookie wideouts off the board this year. Maclin would be a great fit as a bench player and should be taken in keeper leagues because of his ablity to turn into a number 1 wideout down the road.

Percy Harvin WR Minnesota Vikings
Percy Harvin is the do-it-all playmaker that will make life easier for quarterbacks Sage Rosenfels or Tarvaris Jackson or (Brett Favre?? dare I say) with his ability to score from anywhere on the field. With Adrian Peterson and Bernard Berrian receiving the bulk of opponents' attention, Harvin could emerge a surprise star in his rookie season. Harvin is similar to DeSean Jackson because of size and ablity to do many different things.

Hakeem Nicks WR New York Giants
Nicks is a big, strong playmaker with outstanding hands, Nicks should fill in nicely for the departed Plaxico Burress in the Giants' receiving corps because he does similar things that the Giants counted on  from Plaxico. Hakeem Nicks will be a great red zone target for Eli Manning to look to because of his great size and leaping ablity.

Kenny Britt WR Tennessee Titans
Britt has great size his is 6'3 218 frame and will be a helpful target for Kerry Collins to look to. Britt did suffer from inconsistent hands at Rutgers but has the skills to be a productive playmaker in the Titans' vertical passing game.

Brian Robiskie WR Cleveland Browns
The former Ohio State Buckeye is an great route-runner with outstanding hands and ball skills. Though he isn't a classic deep threat, Robiskie is a big-play threat capable of being a productive No. 2 receiver in the Browns' offense. He will be a great short yard WR that can make a ton of catches in a game and move the sticks for a
offense.
